Volunteering at Uncle Vin

While in Kuala Lumpur for a business trip, my coleague Lei Mun asked me if I was interested joining her and another colleage in a day volunteering for Uncle Vins Dogshelter. Being a doglover I immediately agreed to join. After arriving on the property on which Uncle Vin is allowed to stay free of rent, I was overwelmed with the number of dogs there. In total there were 96 at that time. We bought a lot of dogfood from Furffy, rice, brushes and took care of the outstanding vet bill.

We started washing the drinking and feeding bowls after which we started washing the dogs. The first few were pups which were dumped there the day before. With a tear in my eye, in the state they were I started washing them. In total we washed somewhere between 30 and 40 dogs. They were well kept by Unle Vin, they just needed a washing.

At the end of the afternoon we left Uncle Vin, totally knackered. We decided we were not leaving it like that. While my colleagues, who live there will continue to help Uncle Vin when they can, I want to try and raise more money to buy dogfood, Medicines, and pay for vet bills. As I live in Holland it will be impossible for me provide hands on help with the dogs, so I created this website to help where I can, until my next visit to Kuala Lumpur when I can visit Uncle Vin again.
